Group Swim Lesson Overview
Group Swim Lessons are run by CHRC trained employees. We are a proud provider of The Starfish Aquatic Institute (SAI). More information on Group Swim Lessons can be found under the “Group Swim Lessons” tab below.
Our group swim lessons are offered year-round, providing instruction on beginner to intermediate levels of swimming. Classes are dividing into the following groups: Starbabies, Swim School, Stroke School, and Adult Classes. Starbabies and Adult classes are taught to each individual participant’s needs, while Swim School and Stroke School are broken down further into levels that focus on specific skills and concepts. Each group lesson will have between 4-8 participants in a class. Class size is dependent on level and age of participants.

- Starbabies: This class is offered as an introduction to the water for children ages 6 months-4 years of age. Infants & toddlers will be eased into the basics of water movement and comfort in a fun and safe environment. One adult is required to be present and in the water with each participant at all times. Adults will be instructed on the importance of both the importance of water safety and drowning prevention.
**This class DOES NOT teach children of this age to become accomplished swimmers or survive in the water; it does provide a confidence-building, fun, loving experience as a foundation for a lifetime of aquatic learning. **
- Swim School: The core goal for Swim School includes functional water safety skills, self-rescue, and to develop a sense for how to move the body through the water. Classes in our swim school: Guppies, Seahorse and Water Dragon
- Stroke School: The core goal for stroke school is to develop balance and rotation, air exchange, timing, pulling, and kicking for the 4 strokes recognized by USA Swimming, while also enforcing water safety habits.

Group Swim Lesson Required Level Skills
To register for any level a swimmer must be capable of completing all the corresponding level’s skills listed below. In the event a swimmer has registered for a level too advanced, CHRC reserves the right to move the swimmer to the appropriate level, class availability permitting.
Private/Semi-Private Swim Lessons
Private lessons are a great way to work with an instructor one-on-one in order to learn and improve swimming techniques; they're great for any level of swimmer. Private swim lessons are run through independent contractors.
These independent contractors teach lessons at CHRC and are responsible for collecting fees for services. They are also responsible for patron communication and determining their lesson schedule. The cost of admission for the facility is NOT covered by your payment to an instructor.
If interested please email for a list of instructors.
Adult Swimming Lessons
Adult Classes: Adult classes are offered for all skill levels of swimmers, ages 15 years and older. Classes will focus on each individual’s swimming goals. Classes are currently offered on Saturdays from 9:00-9:30am. Beginners will focus on the foundational skills of survival swimming such as floating, kicking, body alignment in the water, and proper breathing. More advanced or experienced swimmers will have the option to focus on the technique and proficiency of any or all of the USA Swimming recognized strokes; freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.
Participation in swim lessons DOES NOT include access to CHRC pools or facility outside lesson times. Please refrain from using the pool for Open Plunge or Lap Swimming purposes during lesson times. For Open Plunge and Lap Swimming schedules visit our Aquatics page.
Group lesson classes require a 3 participant minimum to be held. In the event a class has not met the minimum participation amount classes may be rescheduled to another time, merged with other classes, or cancelled.
CHRC does not offer adjustments to class fees for missed classes or late registration
