Public Ice Skating

Dear Patrons-

On Friday, February 23rd, we discovered a small ammonia leak in our ice rink compressor/chiller room.  Unfortunately, the initial repairs were unsuccessful and the ice rink compressor/chiller was turned off to stop the ammonia leak.  The actual amount of ammonia that leaked was minimal and the Hazardous Materials team gave us the all clear to be in the building.    The new equipment will take up to 8 weeks to be delivered and another couple of weeks to be installed.  Without this equipment, it is not possible to keep the ice rink frozen.

Once the new equipment arrives and is installed, we will need an additional 2 to 3 weeks to rebuild and paint the ice.  We hope to be back up and open to the public, by the end of May or the beginning of June 2024.

In the meantime, our amazing operations staff will be working hard on prepping for the repairs and getting everything ready for the return of the ice.

We are so sorry for the inconvenience that this will cause our hockey and figure skating partners and communities.  Please let us know if we can be of any assistance, until we can welcome everyone back to our incredible ice rink.

CHRC staff

The ice rink is closed at this time and all programs, public sessions, freestyles, and private reservations are cancelled. The rink is estimated to re-open in July 1, 2024.
