BSA Lifesaving and Swimming Merit Badge classes are offered between the months of January-March.

SWIMMING MERIT BADGE

Class dates:

Swimming Merit Badge classes are a 2 hour course on either a Monday or Wednesday evenings. Classes will be broken up into a classroom portion to discuss the skills that will be covered followed by an in-water portion, where scouts will be asked to perform their skills to receive the merit badge. Below are the requirements to pass and receive the Swimming Merit badge.     

*This is NOT a swim lesson. Participants are expected to already know how to perform the required strokes before registering.*

PLEASE NOTE:

~CHRC reserves the right to remove a participant from the class if they are registered incorrectly and have not completed the necessary skills/badges prior to the first day of class.

~ Classes require a 5 participant minimum. In the event the minimum is not met, the class will be cancelled and all registered participants will be issued a full refund or credit.

~CHRC does not offer adjustments to class fees for missed classes or late registration.

~Participants must attend all scheduled classes to complete the course and receive a merit badge.

 

LIFESAVING MERIT BADGE

Class dates:

Lifesaving Merit Badge classes will be taught over 2 days, with a 2-hour class session each day. Classes will be held on a Monday & Wednesday within the same week. Classes will be broken up into a classroom portion to discuss the skills that will be covered, followed by an in-water portion, where scouts will be asked to perform their skills to receive the merit badge. Below are the requirements to pass and receive the Swimming Merit Badge.

PLEASE NOTE:
~Participants must have a Swimming Merit Badge prior to the first day of class.
~Participants must be able of to complete the following:

Swim continuously for 400 yards using each of the following strokes in a strong manner, in good form with rhythmic breathing, for at least 50 continuous yards; front crawl, side stroke, breaststroke, and elementary backstroke.
